The Village of Roy, named for its founders, the Roy Brothers, was incorporated in 1916. The Village has a Mayor-Council form of Government, and a population of 362. In the early homestead days, Roy was one of the shipping points of the farmer's crops of beans, wheat, cream and eggs. Since the Dust Bowl days, farming has all but disappeared, and now ranching is the main industry.
Roy is known for its excellent education system and is in the news regularly for academic achievements and successes in sports. The Village maintains two well-equipped parks which serve for the enjoyment of both citizens and tourists. Big Game hunting has also become an attraction to Roy. The town also has a Community Center and two well-equipped rescue units and volunteer EMTs on call for medical emergencies.
